When Overwatch launched its esports venture in 2016, GameSpot partnered with Dr Pepper and Blizzard to create a 5-part documentary series, going behind the scenes of the innovative and popular new league.
Using our rolodex of connections within Blizzard’s organisation, we were able to secure excellent access to the best talent possible to tell the Overwatch League story. We took pride in producing a high-quality, high-production value series that proved popular across a range of publishing channels.
The production was the focus of a multi-site media buy by Dr Pepper, with ad units supporting the content across CBS Interactive’s portfolio of websites.
My role was as Executive Producer, working with the sales team to win sponsorship for the series with Dr Pepper’s agency and overseeing all production aspects. We flew 2 of our best journalists out from our London office to Burbank in Los Angeles, and teamed them up with a production crew from San Francisco.
